Does a hair cut count? June 8, 2011

Filed under: Uncategorized — marytomlinson @ 2:48 am

Ok, so we know that what we wear both in clothing and in makeup are very important, but what about our hair?

I cut my bangs!

I have not had bangs since I was about 11 years old. But I did it, I cut them! And oh the response!!! The day after I cut my bangs I had 2 guys hit on me! Not that I was looking for the attention, and quite frankly it is not necessarily welcome.

The lesson? Take a risk, it’s just hair, it will grow back!

Looking forward to fall… August 23, 2010

Filed under: Uncategorized — marytomlinson @ 9:10 am

As you are all aware, summer fashion is SO much fun.  Bathing suits, and flip flops.  Cute shorts and sandals.

But if you know me, you know that I LOVE fall!  I especially love fall fashions.

I walked into Ross in Newnan, Georgia on my way to Atlanta last Thursday, just to look for some random item.  I was not even looking at the clothes when I happened to walk by a clearance rack, and there waiting for me in my size was the perfect brown dress.  (Pictures to follow)

I cannot wait to slip into that dress, pull on some boots, and go!  Please hurry Fall, I miss my boots.

Outfit shown here is by Down East Basics.

Makeup… September 29, 2008

Make up is so expressive…it can be a mask, and cover up the “real” you, it can be an expression of a mood, and it can magnify your beauty.

This first picture is of me, with just some very natural looking makeup on.

This second one is of me, I am listening to Pink’s “So What”, and was feeling frisky so I did up my makeup in a very dramatic fashion…check out the metallic red lipstick!

The important thing to remember is to pick colors that look good on you and work with your natural tones.  Also try to keep in mind placement.  My mom and I wear our makeup very differently…our cheek bones and eyes are very different, and because of this our blush and eye makeup go on in a very different fashion.  But always remember to play with it, and have fun!

Accessories! September 22, 2008

Filed under: Fashion — marytomlinson @ 3:29 pm

Come on ladies, you know you want to talk about it…Accessories!  Lets all just admit it, we are obsessed with them.  We all know that an outfit is NOT complete with out it, be it a little chain with the perfect stone, or a BIG CHUNKY necklace and super sized earrings.  We all love our accessories.  But here is one thing to consider, not everyone can wear the same accessories.  Lets compare my mom, and my self…My mom is delicate, she requires delicate jewelry, coupled with a great wrap, and/or broach…where I…oh my!  I can wear BIG BOLD…AND a wrap, AND a broach…heck, drape me head to toe in accessories, who needs clothing!

Red High Heels September 22, 2008

Filed under: Fashion — marytomlinson @ 2:00 pm

RED…do you ever wonder why the writer of the Wizard of Oz decided to have Dorthy wear Ruby red slippers?  Here is my theory…EVERY WOMEN should have some RED high heels!!!  This is a MUST for EVERY wardrobe.  I must admit, I did not get mine until recently, and my closet was strangely bare until they arrived.  Even my mom has them…talk about fashion forward.  Let me tell you about the pair that I got.  They are RED!!!  Paten leather with a lacy cut out, peep toe with a bow, sling back…completely adorable!  I love them…Here is a picture of my lovely shoes:

Nothing wrong with blue jeans! July 10, 2008

Can I just say once and for all, THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH BLUE JEANS!!! They can be just as fashion forward as any other piece of clothing. Add a great top and fashion rich shoe, and you my friend are armed for a great time!

These jeans are from Target, I am wearing with it a Black Tuxedo Top from Down East Basics, and a Grass Green Cami from Modbe Clothing. My adorable shoes came from Cato Clothing. I think I spent $6.99 on them (they were on clearance)! You gotta love a great bargain!

This is a very old picture of one of my favorite outfits…I no longer have these jeans, but they were purchased from New Port-News, they had an unfinished hem, and lace motif down the leg…very sexy! This is a great outfit for browsing the mall, or grocery shopping. I was wearing brown high healed sandals, and a peasant top with 3/4 lace trimmed sleeves. Makes a great casual running errands outfit.

Fashion for everyone! July 3, 2008

Filed under: Fashion — marytomlinson @ 11:12 pm

Fashion is not just for the size 4′s of the world, FASHION IS FOR EVERYONE! From a size 0 to a size 20, there are stylish fashions for all. The most important things about fashion is not if what you are wearing is trendy, but these 3 important points.

Color…Does it compliment your skin, hair, eye color, and bring out the best in them?

Cut…Does it fit your shape properly, and accentuate your “good” parts?

Fabric…if it is a print, does it look good on you? Does the fabric compliment your body?

Remember, if you look good, chances are you will feel good too!
